About the Space
A saloon since just after the Great Earthquake, this North Beach haunt is a trip back in time to the watering holes of the Barbary Coast (minus the outlaw shenanigans and vigilante justice). It’s still got the 1907 original carved wooden bar, cast-iron bar stools and turn-of-the-century parlor details; don’t miss the statue of Emperor Norton, who brilliantly decreed it an “abominable” crime to call the city Frisco. You’ll impress both history buffs and cocktail aficionados (theirs are perfect), and the saloon-inspired food hits the spot.
